We
have just received confirmation that BOTH of our mares are
pregnant with Medallion's first foals! We're very excited as
both mares are due right around Valentine's Day next year.
Even more exciting is that Cheyenne, our 21-year old mare, caught
right away and on her first heat cycle of the year. We will
ultrasound her again in a week or two just to make sure everything
still looks right as she has had complications in the past.
Our maiden mare, Vistosa, is doing superbly. Her foal has
been sold in utero and we know that the new owner, Kate
Platz, will be thrilled with this foal.
We
hope to start teaching Medallion to use the phantom mare in a
couple of weeks, which means we should have semen for A.I. by
mid-to-late April. For those who are waiting for shipped
semen, we will contact you as soon as it's available to coordinate
with your mare(s).

INSPECTIONS
We will be taking
Medallion and Cheyenne to the American Warmblood Society inspections in
May of this year. This will be the first time that Medallion will
leave the property since his arrival in November 2003, so we're hoping
he's up for all the excitement. Results of the inspection will be
posted.
TRAINING
I am hoping to
start Medallion under saddle in the next month or so. He seems so
eager and willing to do his work, and I think he'll adjust very well to
his second new job of this year! ;-) There will be
many photos and hopefully some video of him under saddle that I will
distribute once they are available.
SHOW
SEASON
Show season is
right around the corner and approaching quickly. Vistosa will be
shown again this year in Level 2 Showjumping in the Canadian National A
Circuit. At this level, she will be jumping a maximum height of
1.20m, and a maximum spread of 1.25m, which is approximately 4'1".
There is a phenomenal video
of her free-jumping that I took early this year on the website.
You can see that she's actually clearing the standard, which is
5'0"! We look forward to another successful show year with
her.
NEW
MARES
We
have acquired two new mares for our breeding program, Perfect
Music and Lady
Chilly, both chestnut sabino Jockey Club Thoroughbreds.
Perfect Music will be the first to arrive and will be a permanent
addition to our group. Lady Chilly will arrive late this year and
will be on lease for the 2006-2007 breeding season. Both mares
will be bred to Guaranteed Gold, a cremello TB stallion for guaranteed
palomino JC TB foals. We are hoping for two fillies to breed to
Medallion one day, but if we get colts, they will be for sale.
